Ms. Veronica Scafaru, Project Associate and assistant of the International Visitors Education Program received a B.A. from University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ where she graduated with a Major in International Studies with a concentration on Russia/Eastern Europe Political Economies. She has experience working in the US House of Representative as a staff assistant to First Female Speaker of the House, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi where she assisted the Speaker in the Leadership office and her senior policy advisors with highly demanding and time sensitive tasks.
Most notably she has worked on issues regarding political economy, economic development, human rights issues, international trade, defense, energy security, immigration and international social media. Ms. Scafaru also interned with the office of External Affairs and European Integration in Moldova where she arranged meetings between the Moldovan and foreign dignitaries from the neighboring countries of Ukraine, Russia, and Romania. She also coordinated research on “Transdnistria” (an area of conflict that has recently undergone a spate of separatism) and acted as U.S affairs and English language point of contact. Ms. Scafaru speaks fluent Romanian, Russian and Spanish at the intermediate level. She is currently pursuing an M.A. in International Affairs at Georgetown University.
