March 16, 2010 - National interest in using new court technologies grows, as witnessed by this recent USA Today article on digital court reporting. The National Center for State Courts hosts several references and resources on the topic of court reporting in general and digital recording in particular.
In December 2009, the Conference of State Court Administrators released a white paper on “Digital Recording: Changing Times for Making the Record,” describing the challenges of current methods, the opportunities of digital recording methods, and the national implementation strategies and transitions tools to achieve digital recording.
The National Association for Court Management released its mini-guide “Making the Verbatim Court Record,” in 2007 which delved further into lessons learned from all then-existing reporting practices, management and storage of court records and technology, and future planning in the area.
Additionally, the National Center for State Court’s Knowledge and Information Services hosts a CourTopic module on Court Reporting providing information and resources from around the country.
