Digital Communications Assistant

The National Center for State Courts, a private non-profit court improvement organization, is seeking applicants to fill a Digital Communications Assistant position.  The position is responsible for providing support and maintenance for the NCSC’s website, creating and maintaining original digital content for use on the site, sub-sites, other platforms, and for leading the organization’s social media presence. The position functions as the lead internal contact to assist staff with the Content Management System, which includes providing training on the platform and technical assistance to users. The position is also responsible for updating  the home page of the NCSC website through creation of original text and images, editing content submissions, headline and “blurb” writing, and for creating and posting original digital content such as audio podcasts, streaming video and digital photos in a Web 2.0 format.

The position will report to the Director of Communications within the External Affairs Division.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate Degree in Communications, Journalism, Criminal Justice, Political Science or a related field; or any equivalent combination of training and education.  At least 1-3 years of demonstrated experience in creating and managing web content using a Content Management System (CMS) and/or Dreamweaver as well as basic HTML coding experience is required; knowledge of .css is a plus.  Must have the ability to use audio/video software such as Final Cut, Pinnacle, Avid, Audacity, or other similar products. Demonstrable experience curating content for Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube is also required.  Tumblr experience is a plus.  Other qualifications for this position include: excellent writing/editing skills, PC/Mac, and graphic design skills; and some experience using Adobe Photoshop, digital cameras and recorders.

The International Division of the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) is seeking a qualified Chief of Party for an anticipated Justice & Security Reform initiative to be funded by USAID in El Salvador.

PERU COUNTRY DIRECTOR - Criminal Justice Program

Competitive candidates will have:

  • 10 or more years of experience working on criminal code reform/transition to accusatory systems in Latin America.

The SAFE Program seeks to improve access to justice and enhance peace and reconciliation in Uganda. The Chief of Party will lead activities which seek to improve access to justice and enhance peace and reconciliation with a focus on strengthening land administration, improving dispute resolution mechanisms, and promoting reconciliation in areas prone to conflict. The Chief of Party will manage a diverse team that will provide technical assistance, training, and grants support to accomplish program objectives throughout the country. The position is based in Kampala with anticipated travel to remote regions of the country.

Competitive candidates will have:

  • 10 or more years of experience managing complex international development programs including Access to Justice, Land Rights, Legal Empowerment, Conflict Prevention, Reconciliation and Stabilization programs. Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa/Great Lakes region is strongly preferred.

The SAFE Program seeks to improve access to justice and enhance peace and reconciliation in Uganda. The Conflict Prevention and Reconciliation Specialist will serve as a key member of the SAFE Program team and will lead the formulation and implementation of strategies to enhance peace and reconciliation in conflict prone areas. The Specialist will maintain extensive contacts with relevant civil society organizations working in communities throughout the country. The position is to be based in Kampala with anticipated regular travel to remote regions.

Competitive candidates will have:

  • A minimum of 6 years of progressively more responsible experience in conflict prevention, mediation and dispute resolution, peace building and/or reconciliation with a particular focus on building the capacity of community groups in conflict prevention and reconciliation.
  • Substantial experience in conflict early warning, conflict mitigation and reconciliation working with multiple stakeholders including CSOs, local government and traditional institutions in a developing country. Experience in Uganda strongly preferred.

Required experience:

  • A degree in law.
