Washington does not have a separate probate court. The superior court has exclusive jurisdiction over estate, mental health, adoption (including termination or relinquishment of parental rights), paternity, probate, guardianship, civil commitment, and juvenile matters. There are 31 districts in 39 counties, with 174 judges who are elected on a nonpartisan basis for four-year terms.
