California Court Official receives the 2016 ICM Fellow Star Award

Williamsburg, Va. (July 24, 2017) – Linda Romero Soles (pictured right), Court Executive Officer of the Superior Court of California, County of Merced, is the recipient of the 2016 Institute for Court Management (ICM) Fellow Star Award.  She is the first California Superior Court CEO to receive this prestigious award.

The award honors an ICM Fellow who demonstrates excellence in the advancement of court administration through leadership and education. ICM is the educational arm of the National Center for State Courts (NCSC).

Romero Soles is the 18th recipient of the Star Award, which was presented last week at the National Association for Court Management’s annual conference in Washington, D.C. Since 1971, nearly 1,300 court managers have earned the Fellows credential. The Fellows Program is the highest certification available from ICM. Graduates include state and trial court administrators, judges, clerks of court in both state and Federal courts, and academics.

Margaret Allen (pictured left), Director of National Programs at ICM, presented the award. She described Ms. Romero Soles as “a leader in court management in her state who demonstrates the top level of professionalism and an example to which court managers and administrators can aspire.

“Part of what makes her so deserving of this award,” Allen added, “is her contribution as ICM faculty for court organizations in numerous states. She not only continues to pursue learning, but endeavors to share that enthusiasm for excellence with those at her court and the nationwide court community in the true spirit of the ICM mission.”
