State Judiciary Principles

  • Strategic Plan with five statewide goals to set strategic priorities:  Access; Trust and confidence; Dispute resolution (help people choose the best way to resolve their disputes); Partnership with local communities; and Administration to make courts work for people.
  • Oregon courts will remain open and accessible during regular business hours unless provided by an order of the Chief Justice (CJO’s).
  • Oregon courts will continue to process and resolve all categories of cases.
  • Budgetary cuts shall be equitably shared among judicial districts.
  • Budgets shall be implemented in accordance with the Judicial Branch’s legislatively approved budget, Oregon Law and OJD policies, rules and CJO’s.
  • Each Judicial district is unique and therefore local flexibility is necessary within the budget and Strategic Plan.
