Several states are currently evaluating or have recently evaluated whether peremptory challenges serve any meaningful purpose in today’s environment, whether peremptory challenges are used discriminatorily, and whether existing remedies, such as Batson challenges, are sufficient to overcome any discriminatory motivations in the use of peremptory challenges. Join us for this webinar where our panel will discuss the history and impact of Batson and preemptory challenges on jury selection. The panel will provide specific actions and methods to identify implicit, institutional, and unconscious race and ethnic biases during jury selection.

  • Lila Silverstein, Appellate Attorney, Washington Appellate Project

Moderator: Meredith Holley, attorney and founder of Eris Conflict Resolution
