| Monitoring Information: | In 2006, Massachusetts undertook a major initiative aimed at making improvements in the timely disposition of cases. As noted above, time standards had been established for all departments. Massachusetts adopted the four CourTools metrics on timeliness and expedition, which had been developed by the National Center for State Courts, as common performance measures. For each of the four CourTools metrics, the state set common goals across all court departments.
