To develop language access programs, it is critical to understand the legal requirements and recognized standards of practice. The speakers will provide an overview of the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 and discuss federal guidance that has been issued by the U.S. Department of Justice and the applicability of the ABA Standards on Language Access in the Courts.
