This report describes how state courts today are embracing a considerably broader view of civil case management.
Courts successfully use natural language programming (NLP) techniques for many routine case management tasks, such as redaction and data extraction. The NCSC recently completed a project exploring the feasibility of using NLP for more complex case management purposes, including assigning cases at filing to an appropriate case processing track and reviewing case filings to ensure that fundamental guarantees of procedural due process have been observed before entering final judgments.
