In the first session of the 2024 Family-Centered Fridays series, attendees will hear directly from staff in the North Carolina Judicial Branch about their groundbreaking work developing ACEs-informed courts.
In 2021, North Carolina’s Chief Justice convened a Task Force on ACEs-Informed Courts (TFAC) to enable Judicial Branch stakeholders to understand the impact on children of exposure to ACEs (adverse childhood experiences; adverse community environments); and to develop strategies for addressing adverse consequences within the North Carolina state court system.
Panelists will discuss the TFAC and how it has helped to strengthen trauma-informed practices in North Carolina’s courts for families and children. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about upcoming resources for implementing ACEs-informed practices in their courts.
Presenter:
- Teri Deal, Deputy Managing Director, Court Consulting Services, National Center State Courts
