NCSC Privacy Policy

The National Center for State Courts is an independent, nonprofit court improvement organization which respects your privacy. When you use this website, or participate in our sponsored programs, we may collect information that you submit to us. This privacy policy describes the types of personal information we collect on this website, how we may use that information, and with whom we may share it. Our policy also describes the measures we take to protect the security of the information.

NCSC will only collect and process data where the processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests for which NCSC was established. Specifically, NCSC may collect and process the following data.

You may choose to provide “personally identifiable information” (such as your name, address, telephone number, emergency contact information, e-mail address, professional title, and employer) on this website.   • Contact or support us. You may choose to contact or donate to us through our website. If you send an e-mail, engage in a live web chat or make an online contribution, we use the information you provide to respond to your inquiries, process your donation or share information about NCSC.
  • Event registration. You may choose to register on our website for NCSC-sponsored events such as conferences, education programs, or meetings.   • Online Survey Information. NCSC may occasionally conduct surveys through its website.  To participate the user may supply personally identifiable information.  The survey will provide the purpose for which any personal information is collected and processed, the type of data collected and a link to this privacy policy.  NCSC utilizes the information provided subject to usage as described in this Privacy Policy.
  • Research Tools. You may choose to access a research tool, such as the AI Sandbox, offered as part of an NCSC project.  To participate in use of the research tool, you may supply personally identifiable information.  The research tool will provide the purpose for which any personal information is collected and processed and a link to this Privacy Policy.  NCSC utilizes the information provided subject to usage as described in this Privacy Policy.
  • Personnel Applications. Individuals may apply for jobs through an online application on this website.  Applicants may provide name, address, email address, resumé, date of birth, phone number, ethnicity, race, disability status, veteran status, and social security number.  We use this information only to process, evaluate, and make decisions on job applicants.

In general, we use the personal information we collect from you to provide you support or other services you have sought, to respond directly to your information requests, and to contact you by email regarding information and programs that may be of interest to you.  The use of your personal information as described in this policy is necessary for our legitimate interests of improving the administration of the state courts.

Cookies. To help us serve you better, we use cookies and other tracking technologies.  By collecting this information, we learn how to tailor this website to our visitors to enhance the browsing experience and to improve our services. Information we share

We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose personal information about our website visitors, except as described in this policy. Our operations are supported by a network of computers, cloud-based servers, and other infrastructure and information technology.  We and our third-party service providers store and process your personal information in the United States, but it is possible that this data could be stored elsewhere in the world. We retain personally identifiable information only for the period of time necessary to accomplish our legitimate business interest.
