Why Should I Use This Toolkit?

The Community Engagement in the State Courts Initiative selected six pilot sites to conduct engagements with the goal of getting proximate to socioeconomically disadvantaged, underserved communities. The pilot activities also aimed to increase understanding of how courts can best engage these communities to address structural, institutional, and other problems which undermine trust and confidence in the courts.

The pilots involved 20 in-person engagements and over 15 virtual engagements. Emanating from these close encounters is the ENGAGE! Toolkit. The toolkit includes the goals, methods, challenges, and lessons learned by the six pilot sites as they conducted their engagements.  We hope that you will find the tools helpful in developing, implementing, institutionalizing, and sustaining your engagement efforts across the nation.
