Jury Management

Within the Case Management system (CMS) ecosystem, the Jury Management component supports the creation of a list of prospective jurors, summons jurors in both a one-step and two-step systems, manage the jury pool and case jurors and finally close out juror service and assess performance for both trial (petit) and grand jury system.

  1. Create the Master list of prospective jurors
    1. Obtaining electronic list(s) of individuals who reside within the geographic boundaries of the court, merging multiple lists and removing duplicate records, applying suppression files to identify and remove individuals who are disqualified or exempt from jury service.
  2. Qualifying and summoning prospective jurors
    1. Process for both one-step and two-step systems based on the qualifying and exemption criteria of the state/jurisdiction.
  3. Manage Jury Pool
    1. Determining the number of jurors needed to report for service based on expected trial volume, documenting juror attendance, provide basic orientation materials, and responding to Judges’ requests for jury panels.
  4. Manage Case Jurors
    1. Recording the status of jurors at the completion of jury selection.
  5. Close out jury service
    1. Can include issuing certificates of service completion, automation of calculating jury compensation that forwards to information to the fiscal agency as well as detailed reporting.
  6. Assess Performance
    1. Common performance measures such as juror yield, juror utilization, the amount of time expended selecting a jury and length of the trial.
  7. Integrate with CMS to capture basic case information with a jury trial event
