Coordination/Supervision of Interpreters: Program is centralized at the state level (NCAOC Office of Language Access Services) and consists of 10 staff court interpreters and 100+ contractors. LOTS interpreters are scheduled centrally. Spanish interpreters are contracted with NCAOC, but scheduled by the local Language Access Coordinators (LAC) via a statewide request process. The LACs are trained and supported by OLAS.

Difference in Pay between Spanish and LOTS Interpreters: This varies based upon the language and qualification level. Spanish freelance interpreters' hourly pay rates range from $35 - $50 per hour; LOTS freelance interpreters' hourly pay rates range from $35 - $65 per hour
Minimum Certification Requirements : Orientation Workshop, NCSC 135-Q Multiple Choice Exam at 80%, Written non-English Language Assessment or Written Translation, Skills Building Workshop, Criminal or Background Check, Oath of Office, Continuing Education Courses, Pass NCSC Oral Examination at 70%

2020 Orientation and Written Screening Tests Administrations are scheduled for March 11 – 13, June 10 – 12, September 9 – 11, and December 2 - 4
