Michelle Cern

Michelle L. Cern, MPA, is a Principal Court Management Consultant for the National Center for State Courts. Prior to working with the NCSC, Ms. Cern was the State Treatment Court Coordinator for the Minnesota Judicial Branch where she worked with Judicial Branch leadership to develop statewide treatment court policies and procedures, a statewide treatment court funding mechanism, and served as the primary contact providing technical and other program assistance for treatment court operations throughout Minnesota. As the Statewide Problem-Solving Court Coordinator for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, she assisted in the development and implementation of statewide problem-solving court standards and represented the court system on the Statewide Criminal Justice Collaborating Council Problem-Court Subcommittee and the Treatment Alternatives and Diversion Advisory Committee. Ms. Cern is the former President of the Wisconsin Association of Treatment Court Professionals. Additionally, Ms. Cern has experience as a Research and Policy Analyst with the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Waukesha County Criminal Justice Collaborating Council, and the Alliance for Children and Families. Ms. Cern graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Master’s in Public Administration and received a BS in both Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
