Webinar: A Virtual Briefing on NCSC’s 2023 Survey of Public Opinion
January 22nd, 2024
Public opinion reflects continuing challenges for courts and for all institutions of government—but with some glimmers of optimism for the future, according to NCSC’s 2023 State of the State Courts annual public opinion survey.
The 2023 survey shows that 61 percent of respondents expressed some or a great deal of confidence in state courts, up one percentage point from the 2022 survey. The good news? This is the first year since 2019 that the confidence barometer has not dropped.
Join us for a comprehensive review of our most recent survey results. We will review key findings and discuss implications for how courts can tailor strategies designed to increase public trust in their work.

- Karl Agne, Founding Partner, GBAO Strategies, Washington, D.C.
- Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby, President of CCJ

January 26th, 2024
In the first session of the 2024 Family-Centered Fridays series, attendees will hear directly from staff in the North Carolina Judicial Branch about their groundbreaking work developing ACEs-informed courts.
In 2021, North Carolina’s Chief Justice convened a Task Force on ACEs-Informed Courts (TFAC) to enable Judicial Branch stakeholders to understand the impact on children of exposure to ACEs (adverse childhood experiences; adverse community environments); and to develop strategies for addressing adverse consequences within the North Carolina state court system.
Panelists will discuss the TFAC and how it has helped to strengthen trauma-informed practices in North Carolina’s courts for families and children. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about upcoming resources for implementing ACEs-informed practices in their courts.
Presenter:
- Teri Deal, Deputy Managing Director, Court Consulting Services, National Center State Courts
