Participants
Community leaders from three neighborhoods in San Lorenzo participated in these engagement sessions. There were 17 leaders from the municipality of San Lorenzo. Most of them were from Barrio Hato, two were from Barrio Florida, and one from Barrio Jagual.
Communication Examples
The Puerto Rico team had lists of community leaders they had engaged in previous educational activities. Puerto Rico invited these leaders to the San Lorenzo engagement via telephone and e-mail invitations.
Because they had prior contact with these leaders, the Puerto Rico team felt comfortable designing the engagement to meet their needs. Also, their email invitations reflected their prior contact. The emailed invitations included information such as:
- Background on and reminder of prior contacts
- Purpose of the meeting/engagement and why it may be of interest
- Date/time, location of event
- Who is invited or who may like to participate
- Who to contact to ask questions
- Request to RSVP and instructions for RSVP (e.g., phone #/email of coordinator)
