Why a survey matters
As courts increasingly explore technological solutions to enhance their operations, it is crucial to thoroughly evaluate each tool's alignment with judicial standards, operational requirements, and ethical guidelines before making it available to court users. This due diligence survey has been created for two purposes: to assess the suitability and potential impact of integrating AI tools into the NCSC's AI Sandbox, and to provide courts with guidance about adoption of AI tools.
TRI/NCSC AI Policy Consortium for Law & Courts

Assessing digital & AI evidence in warrant applications
Guidance to assist judges and others in evaluating the reliability, sufficiency, and source of the information presented in emergency situations as the proliferation of digital information, automated systems, and AI-powered tools (e.g., facial recognition software) can complicate this assessment, requiring heightened scrutiny to prevent errors and ensure the proper administration of justice.
AI sandbox
The NCSC AI Sandbox offers a secure, hands-on environment for judges and court professionals to familiarize themselves with AI tools.
Evaluating unacknowledged AI-generated evidence
Guidance on issues raised by unacknowledged AI-generated evidence and suggested questions or areas of inquiry for the court to help inform a determination about the authenticity of digital evidence alleged to be unacknowledged AI-generated evidence.
