Jesse Rutledge advocates for fair, impartial, and accountable courts and brings that passion to NCSC's public initiatives as our vice president of public affairs. 

An expert on public trust, Rutledge also analyzes how new media, disinformation, and politicization affect the justice system and leads NCSC's annual "State of the State Courts" public opinion survey.

A renowned speaker and commentator whose work has been featured in national media, Rutledge's original research was also cited by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in her 2015 opinion in Williams-Yulee v. The Florida Bar.

Before joining NCSC, Rutledge was deputy director of the Justice at Stake Campaign in Washington, D.C. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in political science from McGill University and Dalhousie University, respectively.
