Georgia Judge Stephen Dillard received the 30th Annual William H. Rehnquist Award for Judicial Excellence for his remarkable contributions to judicial reform, court administration, civic engagement, and legal scholarship.
Warren E. Burger Society welcomes court leaders
Four supporters were inducted into the Warren E. Burger Society in 2025 for their exemplary commitment to improving the administration of justice through extraordinary contributions of their time, talent, and support of NCSC. Our new inductees include Florida trial court administrator Matthew Benefiel, Alaska state court administrator Stacey Marz, retired judge and North Carolina state court administrator Thomas W. Ross, and Indiana Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush
Jury expert honored with G. Thomas Munsterman Award for Jury Innovation
Retired Center for Jury Studies Director Paula Hannaford-Agor is the recipient of the 2025 G. Thomas Munsterman Award for Jury Innovation. Hannaford-Agor spent more than three decades serving courts before her retirement from NCSC in 2025. A dominant voice in contemporary jury studies, she developed trusted products such as the Jury Managers' Toolbox and studied critical issues like juror loss and representativeness of jury pools. Judges, scholars, and jury administrators highlighted Hannaford-Agor's practical work, sound scholarship and deep influence.
Los Angeles County Superior Court executive officer, clerk of court honored with Warren E. Burger Award
David Slayton, executive officer/clerk of court for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, has received the Warren E. Burger Award for Excellence in Court Administration for his leadership in local, state, and national court administration during his 27-year career.
Alaska Color of Justice program awarded Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Civics Education
The Alaska Color of Justice program received the 2025 Sandra Day O'Connor Award for the Advancement of Civics Education for its longtime commitment to encouraging youth statewide to pursue careers in the law.
