Alaska Color of Justice program awarded Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Civics Education

The Alaska Color of Justice program received the 2025 Sandra Day O'Connor Award for the Advancement of Civics Education for its longtime commitment to encouraging youth statewide to pursue careers in the law.

David Slayton, executive officer/clerk of court for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, has received the Warren E. Burger Award for Excellence in Court Administration for his leadership in local, state, and national court administration during his 27-year career.

Texas judge honored with 2024 William H. Rehnquist Award for Judicial Excellence

Texas District Court Judge Julie Kocurek received the 29th Annual William H. Rehnquist Award for Judicial Excellence for her courage, resolve, and commitment to the fair administration of justice. Judge Kocurek has advocated for increased judicial security in Texas and nationally after being shot by a defendant who appeared in her court in 2015.

Idaho jury office honored with G. Thomas Munsterman Award for Jury Innovation

The Ada County (Idaho) Jury Office was named the recipient of the 2024 G. Thomas Munsterman Award for Jury Innovation. The office has implemented several initiatives to enhance the juror experience and public perception of jury service through updated facilities, integrated technology, efficient use of juror time, financial assistance, and community support

Warren E. Burger Society welcomes court, legal leaders

Five supporters were inducted into the Warren E. Burger Society in 2024 for their exemplary commitment to improving the administration of justice through extraordinary contributions of their time, talent, and support of NCSC. Our new inductees include Texas Chief Justice Nathan Hecht, retired Minnesota Chief Justice Lorie Gildea, Minnesota State Court Administrator Jeff Shorba, Paul DeLosh, and Joan Robinson.
