Michael Buenger

Michael Buenger brings more than 30 years of leadership experience to the role of executive vice president and chief operating officer at NCSC.
His extensive service includes key contributions to courts at the state, national, and international levels. In addition to serving as the state court administrator in Ohio, Missouri, and South Dakota, Buenger spent three years as a senior rule of law adviser for NCSC in Kosovo. He has also consulted on rule of law initiatives in Macedonia, Egypt, and Turkey.
Buenger earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton. He has a law degree from St. Louis University School of Law, and a post-graduate law degree from the Brussels School of International Studies.
An accomplished writer, he has published extensively on international law, state constitutional law, human rights, and American federalism.
