Lawton R. Bourne

Lawton Bourne leads our innovation and evidence-based research work, synthesizing broad scientific, multi-disciplinary methods to inform and create innovative, generalizable, and practical solutions for issues faced by justice systems.
Prior to joining NCSC in 2024, he worked in a variety of executive roles in the public, non-profit, and academic sectors including positions as the assistant commissioner of data analytics and research at the New York City Department of Correction and vice president of research and development at a large non-profit healthcare organization focused on co-occurring conditions in underserved communities. Bourne held additional senior research positions in the public education and workforce development fields. He occasionally serves as a criminal justice advisor in the New York University Langone Department of Population Health and has taught in Columbia University's graduate applied analytics program.
